ProPublica's Academy is (as far as we know) the world's first provider of courses and competence development in public democratic communication. The academy is for those who work with communication and press in public authorities.

Communication and press experts in public authorities work for the citizens, the society and the democratically elected politicians. This means that communicators in the public sector work with different purposes and goals, policies and strategies than communicators in private companies.

ProPublica's academy covers many communication disciplines, but places specific emphasis on the disciplines that makes public communication special.

New technology must promote an informed debate for all

The academy also helps to exploit the potential and avoid the pitfalls of the communication technology revolution. In cooperation with tech companies, research institutions, NGOs and authorities, the academy will work to develop concepts and methods to promote an informed debate and citizen involvement in the most important societal debates and to support democracy in general.
